Leaders of the Coalition for Reform and Democracy (Cord) have said they will present “documented evidence” to the anti-corruption watchdog to prove the controversial Karen Land is public land.

At a press briefing at the Cord Secretariat Offices in Nairobi on Sunday, several Cord legislators tabled copies of maps, letters and other land dealing documentations they claim proves that government officials illegally authorised subdivision of the land.

“We have taken a firm resolution as a coalition on this land scam and we will not cede an inch until the truth is uncovered and the perpetrators brought to book,” Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale told reporters.

RECORD STATEMENTS

“We shall appear before the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission to record our statements.”

Mr Khalwale displayed to journalists copies of the maps of the land he argued had been subdivided on authority of government officials in the Ministry of Lands.

“Because the President thought we were peddling rumours, we are going to appear before the Commission and at that time, we are going to surrender all these documents if they think they are going to help them.”

He was with Siaya Senator James Orengo, Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama, Suina East MP Junet Mohammed, Busia Women Rep Florence Mutua, Lang’ata MP Joshua Olum and Kitutu Masaba’s Timothy Bosire.

They said they will appear before the EACC on Wednesday.
