The Industrial Court has reinstated a lecturer sacked six years ago while pursuing further studies on scholarship outside the country.

Justice James Rika has ruled that Ms Pamela Butalanyi was wrongfully dismissed and was not duly told why she was sacked by the Kenya Polytechnic University College.

The judge, in his ruling, ordered the university to reinstate her and back-date her pay to 2009 because she was unfairly dismissed.

She is expected to get more than Sh4 million as back salary and the university administration is required to report back to the court in 30 days on whether it has satisfactorily fulfilled the orders issued in this ruling.
