David Owuor’s prayer rally a blessing for Eldoret traders

Traders in Eldoret were on Sunday counting their profits after cashing in on the well-attended convention organised by Dr David Owuor. (READ: Thousands attend Eldoret prayer meeting)

The crusade, which started on Friday with the scrubbing of Eldoret streets, attracted many business people, who celebrated brisk business, ferrying faithful to and from the venue, selling foodstuffs and clothes among other wares, and providing accommodation.

The believers were driven to Eldoret in over 500 buses and many more vans and saloon cars. Traditionally, Easter holidays in the region has been associated with slow business, but this year was unique, thanks to the national thanksgiving meeting organised by the self-proclaimed prophet.

The Uasin Gishu County’s cleaning department will have a lot of work clearing the mountains of garbage left in the wake of the crusade at the Eldoret Sports Club.

Traders said they would take part in the clean-up and pledged to leave the area “as clean as they found it.”

One of the traders, Mrs Mary Nduta Maina, said: “We are aware that it is our responsibility to make sure we leave this place as clean as we found it”.

During  the meeting, Dr Owuor, who wore a white suit every day for the three days, called on people to repent their sins saying the “last days are here.”

Various leaders from the county attended the meeting.
