National Assembly Deputy Speaker Joyce Laboso on Wednesday postponed debate on IEBC and electoral reforms to Thursday afternoon to allow consultations on possible amendments.

The debate on the report of the Joint Select Committee got off to a rocky start with the heads of the coalitions having to rally MPs to vote 107-22 to reject an attempt to have it postponed.

A proposal making it harder to change parties close to elections and which will be in the Elections Laws (Amendment) Bill has angered MPs.

Kisumu West MP Olago Aluoch kicked off the debate on the constitutionality of the proposal that has been backed by President Uhuru Kenyatta and Cord leader Raila Odinga.
