EACC officials barred from making statements on Kinisu

The High Court has stopped officials of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) from issuing statements involving ongoing investigations against chairman Phillip Kinisu.

Justice Edward Muriithi issued a temporary order against EACC Chief Executive Officer Halakhe Waqo, his deputy Michael Mubea and commissioners Sophia Lepuchirit, Dabar Maalim, Paul Gachoka and Rose Macharia.

The EACC officials had on Thursday demanded that Mr Kinisu step aside due to the ongoing investigations against him regarding his company’s dealings with the National Youth Service.

Activist Okiya Omtatah has sued the EACC officials, the Director of Criminal Investigations and the Bunge la Wananchi group.

The Attorney-General is listed as an interested party.

Bunge la Wananchi recently presented a petition to the National Assembly on the same matter.
