  • Of the 161 cases from the list of shame, an internal document shows that eight people from the Lands ministry had been charged.

  • Others facing corruption charges are top managers from the GDC, the KMC and the NHC.

  • Mr Waqo said the commission is also investigating governors who were mentioned in the list of shame.

The anti-corruption commission has recovered Sh500 million after investigating 400 cases for the last one year.

Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) Chief Executive Officer Halakhe Waqo said the amount is in terms of cash and assets.

He said President Uhuru Kenyatta’s list of shame had generated 161 cases.

“We have done it on our own and also in conjunction with the Assets Recovery Agency to ensure that what was stolen from the public is recovered,” said Mr Waqo.

Apart from President Kenyatta’s list of shame that was handed to Parliament in March last year, the EACC has also been investigating the National Youth Service (NYS) saga, the Eurobond case, the Chickengate scandal and the Anglo Leasing scam, among others.

Of the 161 cases from the list of shame, an internal document shows that eight people from the Lands ministry had been charged.

Nine from the Transport ministry were also charged.

They included former Cabinet Secretaries Charity Ngilu (Lands) and Michael Kamau (Transport).

GOVERNORS

Others facing corruption charges are top managers from the Geothermal Development Company, the Kenya Meat Commission and the National Housing Corporation.

Tuesday, Mr Waqo said the commission is also investigating governors who were mentioned in the list of shame.

“We are progressing with cases of 17 governors,” he said.

He said investigations into the NYS scandal were under way and the commission was gathering information from key players, among them former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru and former NYS Deputy Director-General Adan Halake.
