The bodyguard of former National Intelligence Service (NIS) Director-General Michael Gichangi is recuperating at the Kenyatta National Hospital after he was attacked by three men on Thika Road.

The attackers robbed the police officer of his pistol after hitting him on the head with a blunt object at 3am Sunday.

The officer was attacked at the Drive In stage.

Starehe OCPD Bernard Nyakwaka said the officer sustained head injuries and was rushed to a dispensary at the General Service Unit headquarters before being transferred to KNH.

“He is in stable condition. The firearm has not been recovered,” the OCPD said.

The police, however, did not say what the officer was doing at the stage at 3am.
