Kenya is facing a hunger crisis, with 3.4 million people being food-insecure

This includes 2.6 million people already facing severe food insecurity, who are expected to fall into crisis levels from August to October 2017.

To address these challenges, the Food and Agriculture Organisation's interventions have included rapid provision of animal feed and water; implementation of animal health programmes; de-stocking; protection of core breeding herds while providing a critical source of protein to communities’ most vulnerable members and injecting financial resources into local markets.

In this respect, projects have been funded through FAO’s ‘’Early Warning, Early Action’’ technical cooperation programme and the UN’s Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF).
