Four police officers deployed to maintain order at the Nairobi International Trade Fair have fallen sick and are undergoing treatment.

The officers complained of stomach ache, vomiting and diarrhoea and were treated at the Mbagathi Hospital and National Police Service mobile clinics.

The officers were deployed to maintain security at the Nairobi International Trade Fair, which kicked off on Monday at the Jamhuri showground.

Officers who fell sick are attached to the Baharini Police Post in Uasin Gishu County, Subuiga Police Station in Meru County, the GSU headquarters and the Rapid Deployment Unit at the Embakasi Police Training School.

The officers have been taking lunch from an outsourced caterer who supplied food to the officers stationed at different stands inside the showground.

Only last month, 59 police officers, who had been deployed to Nairobi to maintain order during the Supreme Court ruling on elections, were admitted to various hospitals with cholera-like symptoms.
