OT-Morpho group, the firm supplying KIEMS kits for Kenyan polls, has rebranded itself as IDEMIA.

According to IDEMIA CEO Didier Lamouche, the company has rebranded to reflect its position as global leader in the digital sector.

This comes following the May 2017 merger of Oberthur Technologies (OT) and Safran Identity & Security (Morpho).

Mr Lamouche said that IDEMIA will continue to uphold its mission of providing an expertise in trusted identities to ensure a safer world.

He reiterated IDEMIA's commitment to building a new offer capable of revisiting the world of digital security.

OT-Morpho was in charge of the transmission of results during the August 8 General Election.

Nasa leader Raila Odinga had accused the company of being complicit in alleged rigging of the August 8 election, which was declared null and void by the country’s Supreme Court due to “irregularities and illegalities” in the transmission of results.

The Opposition leader accused OT-Morpho of allowing unauthorised access to its servers and manipulating the transmission of results.

OT-Morpho supplied the 45,000 tablets used to identify voters biometrically and an associated system used to transmit the results of votes counted by electoral officials as well as a photograph of the paper form 34A on which votes were tallied.
