Government declares Monday June 2 a public holiday

What you need to know:

  • The declaration is contained in a special Kenya Gazette Notice issued May 30, 2014
  • If a national day falls on a Sunday, the following day will be a public holiday

The Government has declared Monday, June 2, 2014 a public holiday since this year’s Madaraka Day falls on a Sunday.

This is in accordance with the Public Holidays Act (Cap 110) of which Section 4 provides that if a national day falls on a Sunday, the following day will be a public holiday.

The declaration is contained in a special Kenya Gazette Notice issued May 30, 2014.
