A lobby has sued Health Cabinet Secretary James Macharia and a medical board for allegedly failing to develop a national guideline for transgender people as earlier promised.
Transgender Education and Advocacy through its officials Audrey Mbugua Ithibu, Maureen Muia and Annet Jennifer Thiaya on Tuesday went to court, claiming, the refusal has caused transsexuals in Kenya distress.
The lobby also claimed that the failure by the Health ministry, Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board as well as the State, had made it difficult for transsexuals to get appropriate health care services.
The group accused Mr Macharia of failing to respond to their queries whenever they request information relating to the progress of the national guidelines concerning transsexuals.
Judge George Odunga certified their case as urgent.
