First Lady Margaret Kenyatta will on Wednesday hand over medical supplies worth over Sh40 million to Chemolingot District Hospital in Baringo County.

The first consignment of the supplies from the United States arrived at Chemolingot on Saturday evening.

Mrs Kenyatta had travelled to Arizona in the US in March this year to raise funds for medical equipment and supplies to be supplied to hospitals and clinics across the country.

She was the chief guest at the First Ladies’ Annual Luncheon in Phoenix, a fundraising initiative that brings awareness to the humanitarian efforts of First Ladies around the world.
A year ago, Friends of Africa International (FOAI) and project C.U.R.E. requested Mrs Kenyatta to be part of their initiative to provide medical supplies to health facilities that lack them in the country.

FOAI founder member Bonnie Bishop and her team identified Chemolingot as the first beneficiary of the medical supplies.

Several other clinics and hospitals are set to receive similar supplies, expected to arrive in the country in September.
