  • Cord leader Raila Odinga’s supporters have accused Mr Obura of warming towards Jubilee following his presence at government functions in and outside his constituency.

Kisumu Central MP Ken Obura has said he is ready to pay the political price in 2017 for supporting National Youth Service (NYS) projects in his constituency.

He said the projects were an opportunity for unemployed youth to earn a living.

“What I am going through politically, only I, Obura know. A leader must have something that drives him or her and for me it is youth empowerment,” he told youth at Hippo Point in Nyalenda on Friday.

Mr Obura was speaking during the re-launch of the programme in Nyalenda where he was accompanied by Youth and Public Service Principal Secretary Lillian Omollo.

He warned the youth not to be misled by leaders seeking to politicise the project.

“I am putting my neck on the line for this programme and you people must guard it with your lives as it has put food on your table,” he said.

Cord leader Raila Odinga’s supporters have accused Mr Obura of warming towards Jubilee following his presence at government functions in and outside his constituency, the most recent being his presence at the Afraha prayer rally in Nakuru for the Ocampo six.

“The overall savings (of the NYS SACCO) were Sh980 million. And all the money is safe and will be put to good use,” said Ms Omollo.
