Jacob Kaimenyi unfazed by petition

Education Cabinet Secretary Jacob Kaimenyi has dismissed attempts to impeach him, saying his critics lack solid grounds.

He, however, said he has not seen the petition by Matayos MP Geoffrey Odanga, adding that only the public can judge him.

Prof Kaimenyi said claims of high-handedness cited by the MP are unsubstantiated. He said the lawmaker has not provided any evidence.

“You do not become a thief because someone called you one. There has to be credible evidence and even then, one has to be given an opportunity to defend themselves even before a court of law,” he said.

Prof Kaimenyi appeared surprised that a petition on his conduct is being taken to Parliament.

He said the public is a better judge of his performance as a Cabinet Secretary.
