The order was given on Friday by Inspector-General of Police Joseph Boinnet following a presidential directive that corrupt State officers should step aside to allow investigations.

“Any officer who will be implicated in corrupt activity will be dealt with administratively. In the first instance that could include dismissal, pending any subsequent procedures,” he said in a statement.

President Kenyatta in his State of the Nation address ordered that government officials adversely mentioned in corruption, including Cabinet Secretaries and governors, step aside to allow investigations.
