Kingori Tom Wanderi from Alliance Boys High School emerged the top candidate in last year's Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education examinations.

He was followed by Aloo Shem (Maranda High School) and Kivuva Angela (Moi High School, Nakuru) in second and third position respectively.

During the release of the results at Mtihani House in Nairobi on Monday, Education Cabinet Secretary Jacob Kaimenyi noted a slight improvement in the KCSE performance last year.

TOP SCHOOLS

Alliance High School emerged top nationally followed by Moi High School, Kabarak and Precious Blood in Riruta.

The number of candidates who scored A grade in was 2,722, Prof Kaimenyi said, a slight increase from the 1,925 candidates who scored a similar grade the previous year.

Those who scored C+ and above qualifying for entry into public universities were 123,365, he added.

"There were 3,353 cases of cheating in schools and those whose results have been cancelled will receive notification through writing. They have until April 4 to appeal ," Prof Kaimenyi noted.

Counties where there were no incidences of cheating include Taita Taveta, Lamu, Turkana, Bomet, Laikipia, Kajiado and Baringo. (DOWNLOAD: Top and bottom five schools by county)
