Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) Managing Director Gichiri Ndua, top officials and police officers at the Mombasa Port have been sacked over corruption.

Top KPA officials who were sent packing include general managers in charge of human resources, operations, legal, corporate services and the head of security.

Mombasa Port OCPD and the county criminal investigations officer have also been sacked.

The announcement was made Tuesday at a press conference held by Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery, his Transport counterpart James Macharia, Kenya Revenue Authority Commissioner-General John Njiraini and Inspector-General of Police Joseph Boinnet.

They said the move is aimed at ridding the port of corruption. The radical measures were taken on the recommendations by an inter-agency committee formed by President Uhuru Kenyatta to look at issues affecting the port.
