KPA boss tenure to end in July

  • Mr Ndua, an economist, was appointed the KPA boss in August 2010 after former MD James Mulewa was sent home by the board following accusations of abuse office.

The Kenya Ports Authority Managing Director Gichiri Ndua is expected to leave office in July this year.

Mr Ndua on Monday confirmed to the Nation that his contract will come to an end on July 31.

He said he would not seek an extension since he was concluding his second term.

“It is true that my contract ends in July. This is my second term, so, I am preparing to leave office,” he said.

Mr Ndua, an economist, was appointed the KPA boss in August 2010 after former MD James Mulewa was sent home by the board following accusations of abuse office.

On Monday, KPA board Chairman Major (Rtd) Marsden Madoka confirmed that Mr Ndua’s contract will end in July.

Speaking to the Nation on phone, Mr Madoka said the board would advertise the KPA top job but didn’t indicate when the process of replacing Mr Ndua will begin.

“We expect Mr Ndua to leave office in July when his contract comes to an end,” the KPA chairman said.

Mr Madoka didn’t explain when the board will start the process of recruiting a new managing director.
