Kenyatta University students, staff asked to remain calm

The Chancellor said that the outgoing VC would be accorded all the support she needs to run the university until she hands over the leadership mantle.
Kenyatta University Chancellor Benson Wairegi has called for patience among staff and students during the ongoing leadership transition at the institution.
Speaking during the official opening of a new student’s health centre and an engineering workshop, Mr Wairegi said the university was grateful to the appointing authorities for granting it visionary leadership that has seen it achieve numerous milestones.

“There is no vacuum at the university’s management. Our Vice-Chancellor will continue to work as the court ordered, let us all be patient and enable a smooth transition to the next leadership,” he urged.
The VC, Prof Olive Mugenda, is expected to vacate office in about 1.5 month’s time.
The Chancellor said that the outgoing VC would be accorded all the support she needs to run the university until she hands over the leadership mantle.
“I congratulate Prof Mugenda for her energy, enthusiasm and sense of focus despite the challenges she’s facing as she approaches her retirement. I ask that we all accord her all the respect she needs to allow for a smooth transition,” said Mr Wairegi.
