KWS ‘to be strict in rangers hiring’

Those who present fake documents during the nationwide recruitment of rangers that starts on Monday will be arrested, the Kenya Wildlife Service has warned.

At the same time, KWS has invited the public, government agencies and non-governmental organisations to witness the hiring in a bid to ensure transparency and fairness.

“All persons presenting themselves for recruitment at any centre with fake or falsified identity cards and academic certificates, or are caught engaging in any corrupt activity will be arrested and prosecuted,” KWS director Julius Kipng’etich said.

Having probably learnt from the recruitment in the armed forces, which is often marred by corruption, Dr Kipng’etich is taking due caution.

“The recruitment will be conducted openly in the presence of the public from the beginning to the end.

“At the end of the exercise, successful candidates at each centre will be paraded and openly issued with the recruitment cards in the presence of the public,” he said.
