Embattled Deputy Inspector-General Grace Kaindi failed to turn up in office despite being given back her job by a court.

Mr Joel Kitili, who was appointed by President Kenyatta to replace her in an acting capacity, was still in charge despite Tuesday’s Labour Court blocking her sacking.

The court also barred the National Police Service Commission from recruiting Kaindi’s replacement.

National Police Service Commission Chairman Johnston Kavuludi said the recruitment had not been stopped because they had not received the court order.

“I’ve not been served so I cannot comment on what I have not seen. Once served, the commission will sit down, evaluate and put it into proper perspective and come up with the way forward,” he said.

Ms Kaindi filed an urgent application on Monday, claiming she was illegally and forcibly removed.

The hearing is scheduled for October 14.

Ms Kaindi left office on September 3, almost 48 hours after the President named her replacement and appointed her an ambassador. She had refused to hand over until she received an official letter from employer.
