Karega Mutahi returns to the Public Service

Former Local Government Permanent Secretary Karega Mutahi has been appointed to head the Inter-governmental Relations Technical Committee, making a return to mainstream Public Service after leaving following last elections.

The committee is a creation of the Intergovernmental Relations Act 2012, which will take over the residual functions of the Transition Authority (TA) upon the latter’s dissolution.

The committee is responsible for the day to day administration of the National and County Government Coordinating Summit, the apex body for intergovernmental relations whose membership includes the President and the 47 governors.

The committee is charged with implementing the decisions of the Summit. Planning and Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru appointed Prof Mutahi for a period of three years through Gazette notice No.879.

Other members of the committee are Dr Francis Kalama Fondo, Major (rtd) Billow Khalid, Mrs Elizabeth Muchane, Prof Shanyisha Khasiani, Prof Judith Miguda-Attyang, Allyce Kuneiya Esintele and Raymond Nyeris.
