A power outage early morning Thursday affected most of Nairobi and parts of the country.

Kenya Power said a fault on their main supply line caused the blackout.

“We have lost one of our major lines affecting many parts of the country, issue is being addressed,” it said on its @KenyaPower twitter handle.

Kenya Power said parts of Nairobi including Parklands, parts of Mombasa and central Kenya were affected.

“The main 66kv line tripped from the source. Our technicians are still isolating and restoring power. some areas are back some are still off,” the company explained in response to queries from customers on twitter.

By 6am, Kenya Power had managed to restore power in some areas.

“Some areas in Nairobi are still off but the rest of the country is now on,” Kenya Power said.
