Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has described the proposal by the National Assembly to seek compensation for eight months the lawmakers will lose when elections are held in August next year as ludicrous, selfish and unpatriotic.
Mr Kuria said the resolution at the end of a two-day retreat in Mombasa illustrated his view that Kenyans were over-represented.

“It is good to make such decisions with the date of the next poll in mind. It is even better to make the decisions with the next generation in mind. This idea of leaders dividing this country among themselves has to come to an end,” he said.

He said that if the request endorsed by the House leadership and the bid by Members of County Assemblies through a court case go through, it would cost the taxpayer a whopping Sh8 billion.
