Anti-terrorism police are holding a man, who was found with materials they suspect could be used to make a bomb.

Officers pulled the man out of a shuttle at Kisii bus station after other passengers reported that he was carrying “suspicious goods.”

“Officers rushed to the scene and arrested him. On searching his two bags, they recovered 130 pieces of expogel TM V6, 30 electric detonators and 250 meters of solar cord,” according to a police report.

Expogel is a kind of explosive.

The case is being handled by Anti-Terrorism Police Unit office in Kisumu.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the materials are used to blast quarry stones and the suspect acquired them from Tanzania.

One is required to have a licence to handle such explosives.

The suspect is likely to charged in court with the offence of being in possession of the explosive materials without licence.
