man charged with killing his girlfriend in Nairobi's Embakasi Nyayo Estate will undergo a second mental assessment before he stands trial.
The court allowed the second mental examination to be conducted by a private doctor.
Mr Kunguru Martin Opiyo Jr appeared in court on Thursday and denied the charge.
He is accused of killing Charity Mukami Wachira on the night of December 16 in a house in Nyayo Estate.
Mr Opiyo surrendered to police in Kitale after the decomposing body of the 24-year-old woman was found in the house.
Prosecutor Catherine Mwaniki asked the court for seven days to file an affidavit stating the grounds for their application for the accused not to be released on bond.
"The accused has undergone a mental test and has been certified fit to plead," Ms Mwaniki told High Court Judge James Wakianga.
