A 24-year-old Ruiru man is in custody following the killing of his sister, 22.

The fourth-year civil engineering student at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture Technology went missing on Wednesday last week.

The man reportedly chopped his sister’s body and hid the parts in the ceiling of his parents’ house in Kahawa Sukari on January 25.

Ruiru police boss Isaac Thuranira told the Nation that the two were alone in their parents house when the student disappeared.

The 22-year-old used to reside in one of the halls of residence at the university’s main campus, Juja but was often at her parents’ home, especially after the lecturers’ strike started.

“The parents waited for her return in vain. That is when they reported the disappearance at Kahawa Sukari Police post four days later,” he said.

The parents were anxious because the student’s phone was switched off.

Police launched investigations as the student’s parents started a search campaign on social media. Her photos and details of where she was last seen were shared.

Sources privy to the investigations told the Nation that police officers decided to search the house and question family members.

Human head in a thicket

As the man was being interrogated, police officers noticed blood stains on the wall and took a look at the ceiling.

The man fled.

Police officers found a bucket containing the body of the student.

Hours later, police officers got a call from Juja informing them that a human head had been found in a thicket.

The head and other body parts were taken to Kenyatta University funeral home.
