Man who stabbed magistrate charged with assault

A convict who stabbed a Nakuru magistrate got a reprieve Tuesday after the prosecution reduced his attempted murder charges to assault.
Mr Michael Kuhora, who appeared before Chief Magistrate Josephat Burudi gave a sigh of relief when the prosecution amended the charge from attempted murder to assault.
He now faces a charge of assaulting Resident Magistrate Eunice Kelly at the Nakuru law courts on November 22, using a screw driver.
The accused is alleged to have committed offence after the magistrate sentenced him to three years for assaulting Ms Edith Adhiambo.
Police report indicated that Mr Kuhora had pounced on the complainant, Ms Adhiambo stabbing her several times with a screw driver before proceeding to attack the magistrate.
He denied the assault charges as were read to him.
Mr Kuhora has been remanded at the Nakuru GK Prison after he was denied bond.
Chief magistrate Burudi dismissed his bond application saying that it was inappropriate since he was still serving a three years jail term handed to him by the magistrate he stabbed.
The case will be heard on May 22
