The Ministry of Education has released the 2017 term dates for schools and colleges.

A circular dated October 21 indicates that learning at public institutions for the first term will begin on January 4.

County directors, secondary school and college principals and primary school headteachers have received the communiqué.

The ministry said the dates were agreed upon after wide consultations with stakeholders.

The first and second terms for pre-primary and primary schools will run for 14 weeks each, while third term will last nine weeks to allow for the sitting of Standard Eight and Form Four national examinations.

Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams are expected to run from October 30 to November 3 while the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams will run from November 6 to 30.

The dates are February 27 to March 4 in the first term and June 19 to 24 in the second term.
