Leaders from the North Rift on Monday defended Judiciary’s chief registrar Gladys Shollei over allegations that she might have violated procurement procedures leading to misappropriation of funds.

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen and Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi said the allegations were part of a wider scheme by individuals out to scuttle judicial reforms that were being championed by Mrs Shollei.

Mr Murkomen revealed that cartels that have been illegally reaping from fraudulent deals at the judiciary had ganged up to have the chief registrar out of office so that they could continue with their underhand dealings

“These are few individuals trying to fight back after feeling the heat of the current judicial reforms. We will strongly resist any attempts to malign Mrs Shollei since we know she is working to stamp out deeply rooted corruption in the judiciary,” said Mr Murkomen.

Speaking at Eldoret Sports club, Mr Sudi on the other hand pointed an accusing finger at Cord leaders for allegedly engaging in witch-hunting after their botched attempt to wrestle power from Jubilee in the Supreme Court.

The two leaders have now called on Chief Justice Willy Mutunga to be very cautious in making his decision saying that the allegations against Mrs Shollei were falsehoods.
