Education minister Mutula Kilonzo failed to testify against a 25 year-old househelp accused of threatening to kill him and harm his family members.

Mr Kilonzo was ready for the proceedings but the accused, Irine Nduku Kasilu, informed the court that she did not have the minister’s statements which could have enabled her to cross-examine him and requested for an adjournment to get the statements. Principle magistrate Doreen Mulekyo allowed the request by Kasilu and adjourned the hearing to January 31.

Ms Kasilu stunned the court in July when she admitted to sending the threatening messages to Mr Kilonzo only to change her mind and deny the charges two weeks later before the magistrate read her the sentence.

According to the charge sheet, she sent Mr Kilonzo a message reading; “Minister Mutula be ready to die, we were sent by our boss to come to your place in Runda this weekend and rape your wife and your daughter and shoot you to death.” Read (Now woman denies Mutula threats )

The message went further to explain who her 'boss’ was saying; “He is our boss so we have to follow his instructions. He works as a caretaker in State House Road near Belle-Vue gardens.”

Kasilu’s text message implicated her 'boss’ to the abduction of Imenti Central MP Gitobu Imanyara along State House Road, the blast at Assanands building along Moi Avenue, the grenade attack in a church at Ngara, several explosions in Mombasa and that the 'boss’ has connections with the Al-Shabaab.

“He is the one who sent us to threaten Gitobu Imanyara and shoot another police officer in Kiambu. He is connected with the recent explosions and has connections with Al-Shabaab. He is our boss; his name is Boniface Nthiani so Mutula be ready to die this weekend. We will even explode your house in Runda,” read the message.
