An American investor in Nyanza entangled in a row with local politicians risks facing sanctions from the National Assembly if he refuses to meet the Agriculture Committee.
Speaker Justin Muturi told the committee to demand that Dominion Farms chief executive Calvin Burgess appears before it to discuss the matter.
On Wednesday, Mr Burgess accused Cord leader Raila Odinga and his allies of extortion, violence and threats of eviction.
Mr Burgess has failed to honour three invitations by the committee chaired by Tharaka MP Alex Mwiru.
On Thursday, his lawyer wrote to the committee to say that the matter was in court.
“If a person has been invited to appear before the committee, the person must first appear and say whether that matter is sub judice. When people are summoned or invited, they must appear and not write letters,” Mr Muturi said.
In Parliament, Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo accused Mr Burgess of exploiting Kenyans.
He said he had opposed the entry of the American into Kenya in the 90s but was later surprised to be named among those who had approved the establishment of the farm in Yala Swamp.
