NTSA postpones rollout of third identifier sticker for vehicles

Mr Meja explained that the implementation of the third identifier is being done in three phases with phase one having started in July this year for all first time vehicle registration and second hand motor vehicle registration.
The rollout of the third identifier sticker for vehicles in the country which was to take effect starting Monday was postponed on Sunday.
However, National Transport Safety authority Director-General Francis Meja did not disclose the date for the rollout.
Mr Meja explained that the implementation of the third identifier sticker is being done in three phases with phase one having started in July this year for all first time vehicle registration and second hand motor vehicle registration.
“In the second phase sticker will be issued to all vehicles that will undergo motor vehicle inspection on their due dates. This has been postponed until a later date,” said Mr Meja.
In the third phase, he said the authority will collaborate with the insurance industry to facilitate acquisition of the third identifier by private motorists while they renew their vehicles insurance.
“This will take effect from next year,” he said in a statement.
