Revellers who find Nairobi Florida night club an interesting place to be have a few more days to enjoy its services.

The High Court has extended an order halting a notice requiring popular night club Florida to vacate Chai House where it currently operates from.

The temporary order was extended until June 7 by judge Mr Justice Msagah Mbogholi.

The management of the club moved to court after it was issued with notice on August 4, 2009 to vacate the premises.

The court was told that Florida night club is lawfully and rightfully in occupation of the suit premises until 2013.

Agreement

According to suit papers filed by the management of the night club, the parties entered into an agreement to lease the premises situated on Nairobi’s Koinange street by a letter dated September 10, 2007 pending registration of a lease.

And since then, Florida night club management have paid a total of Sh7.6 million to Kenya Tea Development Agency as rent pursuant to their agreement.

However, last August they were asked to vacate the premises, the court heard.

The club house has had exclusive possession of the building since 1977 after periodic renewal of its lease.

And in the event the court fails to intervene it will be evicted and it stands to suffer irreparable damage, the management argues.

The club house is seeking an order to halt the notice requiring it to vacate the building.
