NTSA revokes licence of driver in Chepsir crash that killed 9

The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has permanently revoked the licence of a truck driver in a road accident that left nine people dead.
The nine died in Chepsir on Friday after a South Rift Sacco matatu and the truck collided on Kericho-Nakuru highway at about 6pm.
At the time, Kericho OCPD Justus Kitetu said, the truck ferrying gas from Kisumu to Nakuru had been using the wrong lane.
DANGER
A statement on Monday said, "The authority has permanently revoked the licence of trailer driver, Mr Abdulle Ali Mohamed. Preliminary investigations indicate the driver was descending in the climbing lane towards oncoming traffic and without due care, causing a head-on collision."
NTSA Director-General Francis Mejja said the truck, registration KBH 267J/ZF belonged to Multi Energy Limited, and identified the matatu's plate number as KCN 236X.
Mr Mejja noted that Mr Mohamed was "a danger to all road users and should never be allowed to drive on Kenya's roads".
KAMARA CRASH
The NTSA also addressed another accident in which nine people died on Nakuru-Eldoret highway.
The accident involved a bus belonging to Green Line company, registration KBN 701N, and a trailer, registration KCM 259K/ZF 6279.
The authority summoned the officials of the bus company to face it on Wednesday.
It said it will take action after that meeting.
