Nakuru women lash out at Millie Odhiambo for Uhuru attack

A group of Nakuru women on Thursday protested Mbita MP Millie Odhiambo's recent attacks on President Kenyatta.

Ms Odhiambo on Tuesday lost her cool as Cord lawmakers blocked the entrance to the chambers and launched a verbal attack on President Kenyatta on camera.

Standing at the door to the House, Ms Odhiambo shouted her head off, claiming she is better than Mr Kenyatta.

“He does not even compare to me, wacha (leave) Raila Odinga. He does not compare to me Millie Odhiambo,” she said.

HEAP INSULTS

She then went on to heap insults on the Head of State.

She and other Cord legislators were reacting to what they termed as “harassment by police” who mounted a heavy guard during the stormy session that was paralysed for over two hours.

The Nakuru women, who chanted songs to castigate the Mbita MP, matched in the streets with placards castigating the lawmaker's utterances.

They accused her of disrespect and spreading hate ahead of the 2017 General Election.

DIVISIVE POLITICS
The women, who were in company of a few youths, claimed being a woman, it was unreasonable for Ms Odhiambo to make such utterances.
“Women and children are the most affected whenever clashes occur and should be careful not to cause disharmony among tribes,” said Ms Edith Wambui.
They warned political leaders against divisive politics ahead of the polls considering Nakuru was one of the regions that bore the brunt of the 2007/2008 post-election chaos.
They later burned a casket bearing Ms Odhiambo’s name at Nyayo Gardens.

Ms Odhiambo has also been condemned by Warembo Na Uhuru, women supporting Mr Uhuru's re-election, and women in Mombasa.
