Nine die in Kenya road accidents

Nine people died and many were injured in three separate road accidents Saturday.

Six people lost their lives following a road accident at Nairege- Enkare on the Narok-Mai Mahiu highway.

Four others were rushed to the Narok District Hospital in critical condition after the matatu they were travelling in rolled several times.

According to Narok police boss Peterson Maiero, one of the tyres of the ten-seater matatu burst causing the driver to lose control of the car during the 4.20pm accident.

Four people-two women, a man and a boy- died on the spot while two others succumbed to their injuries in hospital.

Earlier, a tourist died and eight others were seriously injured after a bus rammed their tour van at Duka Moja on the same road. A heavy traffic snarl up ensued and police had a difficult time clearing traffic on the busy road.

Elsewhere, two people were killed in a road crash involving two personal cars at Kambiti on the Embu-Nairobi highway.

Three others were rushed to hospital after the head-on-collision accident.
