No major security incident has been reported in the city for the last 12 hours.
Save for the minor traffic interruptions, police say the city has experienced relative calm.
The National Police Service spokesman George Kinoti said the Mass held by Pope Francis at the University of Nairobi went on as planned and the security officers did not have any challenges.
“Security arrangements were put in place according to the Mass programme. There were, however, officers on standby to deal with any unexpected situation that could have arisen,” he said.
According to the police, there were about a million people at and outside the venue.
