Saudi Arabia ambassador to Kenya Ghorm Said Malhan has assured a Nyeri family whose relative is languishing in a police cell in Saudi Arabia that their relative will be deported soon.

The assurance came a day after the Nation published the story of a woman stuck in Saudi Arabian’s police cell after she ran away from her employer.

Ms Martha Wacheke Wachira, 36, had sent a distress message to her father three weeks ago asking for help.

Her father, Mr Richard Wachira, 62, had earlier said that his daughter went to Saudi Arabia to look for a job to take care of her three children following her husband’s death in a road accident two years ago.

The ambassador told the Sunday Nation that the police officers where Ms Wachira is had assured her safety as preparations are made for her deportation back in Kenya.

“I have talked with the police officers in the station and the lady is safe. The flight has been booked for her. She will be reunited with her family soon,” said the ambassador.

The ambassador said that the lady was taken to the police station by her employer after she developed medical complications and the process of deporting her back in Kenya are underway.

“Her employer was much worried of her health. The lady threatened to commit suicide that prompted her employer to take her to the police station for assistance,” he said.

The ambassador asked the families to counter check their relatives’ health before they release them to the foreign countries.

He asked the agencies to enlighten their clients on their duties, obligations and the Saudi Arabian culture as they leave for the Kingdom to avoid frustrations when they reach there.
