Offices, vehicle burnt as gang attacks Amu Ranch in Lamu

Armed attackers on Monday night raided Lamu Conservation Trust, located within the Amu Ranch in Lamu County, and burnt offices and a vehicle.
The attackers burnt offices, stores and a Toyota Land Cruiser during the 10pm incident at the Milihoi camp, located between the Mpeketoni and Hindi areas.
Lamu Conservation Trust farm's logistics manager, Mr Bwanamkuu Bwanaheri, said no one was injured in the incident.
He said two Kenya Police Reservists guarding the offices and the farm's workers had to hide in the forest during the attack as they were outnumbered.
FAMILIES FLEE FARMS
The incident came barely two days after gunmen killed 22 people in Lamu and Tana River Counties.
Hundreds of families have since fled their farms on the outskirts of Hindi trading centre.
About 500 families, worried about their safety, spent Sunday night in the cold at the compound of Hindi Prison in Lamu West.
Deputy President William Ruto, who toured the Hindi area after the Saturday night attack, ordered Inspector General of Police David Kimaiyo to ensure the attackers were arrested quickly and charged.
