Each of the 290 constituencies submitted seven fresh names to the National Government Constituencies Development Fund Board following the enactment of the new CDF law.

The board, chaired by former MP Elias Mbau, published the names in a gazette notice dated May 17.

The individuals are expected to be approved by the National Assembly during a special sitting next Thursday before they begin their work.

The new legislation enacted in December 2015 requires that youth, women and disabled people be represented.

MPs are not members of the committees, although they play a great role in approving those nominated to join the teams.

The new members will serve for a renewable term of two years.

They will oversee the fund that has now been restricted to national functions.
