Police report 35 people killed in Nairobi in one week

At least 35 people have been killed in Nairobi in the last one week.

Six of them, including a Kenya Army soldier from at Kahawa Barracks, were stabbed to death according to police.

Senior Private Boniface Thuku Ndungu was stabbed in the head and neck as he was walking to his house from work in Kasarani.

Elsewhere in Kasarani, a businessman shot dead a bouncer at a club and seriously injured two of his colleagues following a disagreement over a Sh200 bill.

The businessman was leaving the bar when he was blocked by the bouncers. He rushed out and came back with a pistol and shot the three.

Police records indicate that at least six victims were stabbed to death in Kasarani, Riruta, Kariobangi, Kilimani and Starehe. In Riruta, a man was stabbed to death after a disagreement over a woman.

George Hinda and George Nyakundi Otuke quarrelled over the woman and Mr Hinda was stabbed with a knife on the chest and died.

Police in Kilimani have also arrested a woman suspected to have stabbed her close relative to death.

The woman told the police that Simon Munyoki, who appeared drunk, arrived home with a stab wound on Sunday night. He later died.

However, police officers went to the house and found a blood-stained knife and arrested the woman.

A businessman was shot dead by gunmen. Mr Devshi Padamshi, 78, was shot dead at the gate of his residence Parklands.

A child who was escaping punishment hit her head on the table and later died.

Police say that Mr John Apondo was caning her 12 year old son, Clifford Oduor but as the child was running away, he hit his head against the table.
