A terror suspect who escaped a police dragnet Monday night was captured by his father and taken to Malindi CID headquarters Tuesday evening.

Mombasa County Commissioner Nelson Marwa said Mahmoud Salim Mohamed, alias Gasere, was among the criminals terrorising residents at the coast.

"This is a major step that the father of that youth has taken and we want to encourage other parents to follow this path before their children are met with fierce fire," he said.

Mr Marwa further said police are pursuing four other suspects who managed to escape from the house that was raided by police and are believed to be within the tourism hub. Two firearms and 345 rounds of ammunition were confiscated.

At the same time, regional police boss Francis Wanjohi said their main target is Ismael Shosi, who is said to be operating in the Majengo and Old Town areas.
