At least 15 spent cartridges of the same 9mm-calibre bullets have been found on the shooting scenes.

Chief Inspector Archeles Kiwanuka, in charge of Njiru Sub-County, was walking home with a former classmate and a nephew when they were attacked by three armed men.

“They shot him in the head before stealing his Ceska pistol, police radio, and his mobile phone. Police recovered two spent cartridges of 9mm calibre,” said Police Spokesperson Zipporah Mboroki.

On Tuesday night, an employee of Botanic Extract EPZ in Athi River, Mr Jack Njiru Munyi, was shot dead at the gate of his residence. Nothing was stolen from him. Detectives found a spent 9mm cartridge at the scene.

On Tuesday, at around 8pm in Umoja 3, Mr Isaiah Akenga was also shot dead by unknown gunmen outside his house. Nothing was stolen from him. Police also found a spent cartridge of a 9mm-calibre bullet. Mr Akenga was shot in the stomach.

Still in Karen, a family of three escaped death narrowly when two men shot at their car five times on Mudodo Road. Ms Lucy Meyer, 49, had driven out of her home with her children when two armed men shot at her car five times. Police, however, said they only found two spent cartridges.
