Police are looking for four men who carjacked President Uhuru Kenyatta’s aunt together with her passenger and dumped them on Peponi Road.

Detectives said the Nissan Wingroad station wagon was abandoned outside Jacaranda Hotel in Westlands.

It appears the suspects avoided a deadly confrontation with police after they escaped on foot, moments after abandoning Mrs Jean Njeri Muhoho’s car during a drizzle at on Friday morning.

“A man who knew the car stopped on seeing it being pushed by strangers,” said a detective at Parklands Police Station.

The officer said the man who later phoned the family only to be told the car had been stolen, may have made the suspects suspicious, after he told them he was returning to his car to enquire about the owner.

Among the items recovered from the car was a bag and a passport belonging to a young man who was a passenger in the car.

Police said he was a relative of the family and was being escorted by Mrs Muhoho to the bus stop to take a matatu when they were accosted by the gang on University Way. The two escaped unhurt.

Mrs Muhoho who is the wife of former Kenya Airports Authority CEO George Muhoho was dumped near a coffee plantation in Kitisuru which has become notorious with carjackings, according to Ms Susan Sinclair who owns a house in the area.
