Police kill 2 suspected robbers in Huruma

Flying Squad police officers shot dead two suspected robbers and recovered four firearms with several rounds of ammunition in Huruma estate, Nairobi, on Wednesday morning.

The officers were on patrol when they spotted the two, who later fled to a house within the estate. An exchange ensued and the suspects were both shot dead.

Nairobi County Commander Benson Kibue said that two AK47 rifles, 2 Ceska pistols, and 82 rounds of ammunition were recovered from the house. Mr Kibue said that the officers had been trailing the suspects the whole of Tuesday afternoon when they finally caught up with them.

There were 51 rounds of 7.62mm special used by AK47 rifles, 17 rounds of 9mm ammunition used by Ceska pistols and 14 rounds of .38mm rounds

Police also recovered assorted clothing mostly school uniforms from the slain suspects.

“We suspect they (suspected robbers) were putting the school uniforms to disguise themselves,” said Mr Kibue.

WOMAN REP ATTACKED

Meanwhile, gunmen attacked the Turkana Women County representative Joyce Akai Lemanikor at the gate of her residence in Ongata Rongai on Wednesday morning. She was however not injured nor was anything stolen from her in the 1am incident.

Ms Lemanikor was being driven to her residence in Villa estate when they were confronted by four men, one armed with a pistol. The gang first attacked the guard at the gate but her bodyguard fired five rounds from his revolver before the gang escaped.
