Police warn public of fake Boinnet Facebook account

Kenyans have been warned about a fake Facebook account purporting to be that of Inspector-General of Police Joseph Boinnet.
The fraudster, police say, is targeting gullible Kenyans by pretending that he could help them get security tenders at the police headquarters.
Kenya Police spokesman Charles Owino said the person behind the fake account is being sought. He warned Kenyans against dealing with the fraudster.
“There are clear procurement procedures within the police service. Neither the IG in his private capacity nor the police service will take responsibility (if anyone falls victim). We will, however, act fast to ensure that unsuspecting Kenyans are not defrauded,” he said.
