A National Land Commissioner wants his boss and the Lands Cabinet Secretary to resign for failing to steer land reforms.

National Land Commission survey, adjudication and settlement committee chairman Abdulkadir Khalif said Dr Muhammad Swazuri and CS Charity Ngilu are causing confusion and creating a fertile environment for unbriddled grabbing.

The two, he claims, have failed to hasten the passing of Bills that are crucial for proper management and administration of land.

Mr Khalif has written to Mrs Ngilu and Dr Swazuri to register his dissatisfaction with their leadership.

PROMISED LAND

In the letter dated January 26, the commissioner says: “If for any reason you are unable or are unwilling to deliver on the promises you made, I request both of you to get out of the way for others to take us to the “Promised Land.”

The letter is copied to the Chief of Staff and Head Public Service Joseph Kinyua and several senior government officials.

Mr Khalif recalls how Mrs Ngilu and Dr Swazuri engaged in a public spat over which of the two institutions should lead in land reforms and doubts if they have resolved their differences.

Recently, Dr Swazuri and Mrs Ngilu have been seen working together to address the grabbing of public land.

“We are wondering what the two have agreed on as we cannot see any progress in land reforms. We do not see the fruits of their collaboration,” Mr Khalif told the Nation in a telephone interview.
