“Trainers at this level should adopt 21st century teaching approaches that engage the learner and ensure they acquire the competencies required by industry,” says the report that is set to be debated in July during a national stakeholders’ conference.

Kenya effected the last curriculum reform in 1985, when there was a shift from the 7-4-2-3 system to the 8-4-4 one.

The report notes that the re-alignment is required due to technological advancement.

“This is bound to increase their employability and make them globally competitive. Identification and nurturing of talent should be carried out at all technical training institutes,” says the document.
